Travel 101.2

November 25, 2007 – 6:35 pm

These days I’m traveling, on average, about 2-3 times per month. Basically, I’m living out of a suitcase (I don’t even put it in the closet any longer between trips). A while back I shared some travel tips, but since then, I’ve learnt a great deal more that I thought I’d share with you.
BOOKING
Do you [...]

Why Smart Travelers Should NEVER Book With Expedia

November 12, 2007 – 11:03 pm

Based on some horrific experiences with them recently, I actually have a list:

Their prices are actually HIGHER in many cases for a hotel room you can book directly. 9 times out of 10, if I’ve done a search on Expedia and found that they charge at least a couple of dollars more to book through [...]

Conferences and Community

August 29, 2007 – 4:54 pm

This is a shot of Ryan Carson’s feet, taken at the San Francisco Future of Web Apps. Ryan scored some heat over that particular conference, namely because of the homogeneity of his speaker roster at the time. In his response to this criticism, I gained a great deal of respect for Ryan. He stepped up. [...]

BlogHer and Getting Back to What Matters

July 30, 2007 – 5:24 pm

So, after a brilliant week away from it all, laying on a beach on an island made of lava, surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, we hopped another plane to the windy city to attend BlogHer Conference ‘07 - A World Of Difference.
The only bummer about that was that, because of a 6 hour time difference, [...]

Updated Schedule…

May 31, 2007 – 6:31 pm

…Dopplr will really make me happy when it can manage all of it for me.
FYI…the Canadian tour has changed a bit. This weekend, we’ll be in Vangroovy working away with our awesome pals at Ma.gnolia on some very cool projects. Later this month, it’s FOO, then off to the Montreal Jazz Festival, then [...]

Travel Tips (aka. wisdom from my mom)

May 12, 2007 – 7:43 pm

Although I was going to write an entirely different post, Chris’ recent return flight blunder (right after I hit purchase on a set of 4 movie tickets for tonight for us and the kids) connected the fact that everything that makes my travel go (generally) smooth comes from my Mom’s sage wisdom. And, since it [...]

Unmanaging: unleashing the creative beast in your team

May 9, 2007 – 12:37 pm

Although I haven’t previously presented at a conference on HR related techniques, my talk yesterday went quite well and many approached me afterwards to tell me that they were using some of the techniques in their management practices and it was working very well for regaining employee interest and raising morale. Some even reported a [...]

Travel Schedule + Meeting Up

April 28, 2007 – 7:33 pm

[updated schedule: bummer, but we are no longer doing such a major Canadian tour...I'm heading to Montreal for the Jazz Festival with some friends. I may have one night or a couple of hours on the Friday for a lunch and/or meetings. I'll still be in Calgary, though. :)]
[I've gotten loads of use out of [...]

The World is Neither Flat nor Spiky, It is…

April 28, 2007 – 6:48 pm

…complicated.
Riya’s Leaves India
Just recently a former coworker of mine from Riya India messaged me to ask me what I thought of Munjal’s recent decision to pull out of India. After I read his post and reflected on the sadness of it (I met most of the India team and really enjoyed hanging out with them [...]
