During the San Diego Fires in the fall of 2007, Nate Ritter, all around nice guy and twitterer took it upon himself to start becoming the aggregator of all pertinent news via his twitter account. Social Capital and the Influence of Social Networks

February 23, 2008 – 11:04 pm

connections
reputation
influence
bridging capital - the number of connections you have across to different industries, social strata, etc.
bonding capital - the depth of [...]

The Story of Satisfaction

November 8, 2007 – 8:39 pm

Here it is! The totally edited down version of my interview with the fabulous folks at Satisfaction. I have loads more footage (this is 1/20th of the footage), so I’ll probably be putting out smaller snippets. I didn’t think anyone would want to sit through 2 hours of us talking, though.
This particular section discusses the [...]

Our Brains are Broken

May 28, 2007 – 3:27 pm

In his amazing TED Talk, entitled, “Do Schools Kill Creativity?”, Sir Ken Robinson tells the story of going to see his son in the play A Nativity Scene. When the three wisemen appear (three costumed young boys), they deliver their lines with only the interpretation that youngsters can deliver. There are no ‘rights’ and no [...]

Unmanaging: unleashing the creative beast in your team

May 9, 2007 – 12:37 pm

Although I haven’t previously presented at a conference on HR related techniques, my talk yesterday went quite well and many approached me afterwards to tell me that they were using some of the techniques in their management practices and it was working very well for regaining employee interest and raising morale. Some even reported a [...]

Riya’s Leaves India
Just recently a former coworker of mine from Riya India messaged me to ask me what I thought of Munjal’s recent decision to pull out of India. After I read his post and reflected on the sadness of it (I met most of the India team and really enjoyed hanging out with them [...]
