This is pretty exciting! Not only did I have Zane Vredenburg’s ENTIRE CLASS of art students take on the original version (these are pretty cool!) after I tweeted that I wasn’t totally happy with it, but I also lamented to Cindy Li, one of my favorite graphic designers around, that I wasn’t happy and she agreed to work out this gorgeous cover!
I don’t know. This seems like a story about the story…I have an awesome community of people around me, willing to contribute to my success. That’s a really big deal. Thanks to everyone! Cross your fingers that my publisher will go for it.
Oh and btw…you can EVEN pre-order it here! Holy crow it’s cool to see my name on Amazon!

Cindy’s cover is MUCH better. If they are smart, they’ll go with her design.

I don’t think there’s any question this version of the cover has the sexy going on. It’s miles better than what they proposed before, and I dare say it epitomizes you and the subject matter SO much better! Can’t wait to get my copy!

So can you tell us more about the book? An abstract maybe? – Corey

Tara, I am so excited about this book! You have no idea! I’m sure I am nowhere near as excited as you are, but ……… Wheeeeeeee

Wow – what a brilliant story of students ‘doing it for real’. You (and they) have just entered my talks about serendipitous creativity (and why schools need more of it
I’d almost love to be able to choose which cover *I* want, and order my copy. Surely you can do it in Lulu, no? Maybe even a publisher would entertain it. But would the granularity then water down the ‘brand’ of the book? That’s where my expertise fades and yours begins. Would love to know what you think; I might use the idea in a book of my own one day.
Long time no see – we need to hook up some time soon. You on Dopplr?

Wow! Tara this cover is fabulous! I love it and even more I love the fact that you “walked your talk” in using community to allowing others to contribute to the design. I pre-ordered my copy today
