Great post Tara — thanks!

This has inspired me to start talking with the folks I know at Calgary City Hall and local NGOs working on transportation about getting a TransitCamp together in Calgary. Hopefully we can pull one together here since it looks like such a productive process.

Tara!

I'm so happy to see the TransitCamp meme spread so successfully to the Bay Area. Thanks for picking it up and running with it! I wish I'd been there to experience it.

We had many of the same realizations after the first one, particularly the surprise at the diversity of the audience and their extreme happiness with the event. Maybe those two are related?

For anyone reading this who might be looking for more information about the original, see the Toronto TransitCamp wiki. In between our event and TCBA was Vancouver TransitCamp as well.

One of the biggest challenges we had was to keep the movement moving post-event. There have been some really interesting projects which sprung out of it (particularly in the area of opening up data feeds and APIs — see OpenTransit), but our biggest wins were the HBR article and our upcoming series of events with Metrolinx, which will get people from all over our region camping.

Looking forward to seeing what comes of all this!

Congratulations Tara :)
Here is a transit idea for our friends at GOOG411
Perhaps Google 411 could add bus routes in the system, e.g you Say "Bus Route" San Francisco, Line 12A and GOOG411 will return a link to the map with the route via SMS.

All well and good, but my small issue is with the illiterate nature of the sign.
