The Story of Satisfaction

November 8, 2007 – 8:39 pm

Here it is! The totally edited down version of my interview with the fabulous folks at Satisfaction. I have loads more footage (this is 1/20th of the footage), so I’ll probably be putting out smaller snippets. I didn’t think anyone would want to sit through 2 hours of us talking, though.

This particular section discusses the beginnings and impetus behind Satisfaction.

Well done Tara. Your first video blog is pretty sweet.

A quick suggestion (if I may); lighten it up a bit. Jokes, fun, etc is cool.

Personally, I absolutely love the idea of GetSatisfaction. It’s something I was trying to get going inside of my previous company without much help. It didn’t fly on the priorities which in turn actually shows how bad it’s needed.

So, you GetSatisfaction folks.. you’re awesome! Thanks for giving the people the power when the companies won’t. Very nice and empowering. I hope you gain marketing traction in a huge way!

Awesome! I’ve settled on Viddler as my vlogging service of choice, but have been waiting for when I finally get my Mac to play with it. What kind of gear did you use?

audio is really good. steady camera shots. these are usually the two big amateur mistakes.
I can tell that you asked good questions too.
Dont be afraid to edit more.
Get it down to the core.

Thanks for all of your feedback.

RE: funny thing. I don’t know. I put a funny at the end, but the subject matter is supposed to go into a business book. I’m definitely not trying to be GETV or anything.

RE: make it shorter. Yep. Will do. I’m trying to balance getting more content out there (so people know what I’m working on research wise) and keeping it watchable.

RE: camera shots. OMG, yes. I was borrowing Tantek’s kinda crappy still camera tripod that wasn’t meant for video. I have/had a gorgeous tripod that I had at Citizen Space that has disappeared.

RE: gear. This is a good question. I’m still trying to amass it. I bought a Canon HV20, a Canon DM50 mic, a 4pin/6pin firewire, a whole schwack of tapes and an extra battery. I still need to get a tripod and I just ordered a Terrabyte hard drive because I’m gonna need it!

Don’t you mean a Tara-byte hard drive? Har. (ducks as pie flies over his head)

Great video. I’ve been to GetSatisfaction.com on and off since they launched but not regularly. Hearing them talk about their vision for it is inspiring and I’ll definitely head over there with new enthusiasm.

Also, being down here in Surf City (Santa Cruz), I don’t often get out to meet the people behind great sites like this. Thanks for taking the time to put this together so us beach bums can get to know the people doing such amazing work.

    Tara,
Disadvantage of Viddler is that it does not appear in your RSS reader, nothing at all. So maybe you want to compensate that with a link to the video in your text.
