This is a vital issue, not just in obvious contexts like the 2008 election, but in many, many, many business settings, where one person (the neurotic, the naysayer, the persistent worrier-for-no-reason) will libically hijack the rest of the crew because s/he is afraid that this project will: a. Crash like ol' Project X did; b. Ruin the company; c. Get everybody sued; d. Offend the advertisers and drive them all away forever, leaving those of us with mortgages in permanent, stifling poverty; or e. All of the above. It's soooooo important to be aware of when we're being limbically hijacked (doing this would radically cut down on the popularity of Rudy Giuliani and Lou Dobbs, among others), AND of when we're doing it to other people.
