Exactly. So I started the W-List today. It includes women who have gotten recognition and kudos (AdAge/Todd And's list); other famous bloggers (forgot you); and newer (some younger) bloggers.

It's all there. Pay it forward ;-)

Tara,

I can relate to your '06 feelings about BlogHer. Sometimes I think I am more man than woman. What's in it for me, people? In '05 I didn't trust the very premise by which I was planning that conference--that women are kind AND powerful. And yet, every year I'm thrown on my butt and realize that I am woman and, actually, born to connect. I spite myself and hang and talk and relate. Just can't help it.

This was a fabulous depiction of what I have to assume goes through the Alpha female mind. All I have to say is I am so glad you came--and Chris too!

Your Alpha in crime.

Its interesting just looking at those two rulesets. The first one is essentially how "work" works today, the second is more abou how (we'd like) our social lives work.

The "rockstar" phenomenon is straight Zipf's law network effects, and its interesting that it has come to grip the blogosphere so hard, given its roots...one wonders if half the reason that everyone is off to Facebook is that its actually harder to rock there (or at least everyone starts off at a more euql level), its easier to set up smaller communities.

And we all know that working "socially" - ie in small well knit teams with high trust - works better for people (there was an interesting HBR article talking about the net disruptive impact of "stars" in corporates recently)

Tara: you sound as though your week on the sand drinking pineapple slushies worked wonders.I'm sure that just having Chris there with no telephone e-mail etc. worked equal wonders. Regarding your thoughts on co-operation versus competition and constant comparison you know is your ??? bigger than my ???. Is so true some few years ago I realized that I was not cut out to be the great dynamic leader and said OK screw that I'll simply work with people I like doing things I like. Many times hardship reared its ugly head but you know it was never that bad there were always good friends who did not give a damn about whether I was CEO or Janitor, Just as I found that every one has an interesting tale to tell and you know I could and do learn from everyone. Learning from all is the secret not wondering if what you tell me is worth a dime. Keep up the good work we can all learn and grow together
Love Peace Roger
