Ahh great! Thanks for this..

This is what I call "The Split".

You can also divide it in reductionism versus holism. Even right brain versus left brain. Or if you are really bold: zero sum focus versus non zero sum focus.

It just all falls together..

Also, as a result of Paul's research, he created an online tool to improve the connectivity of the millions of organizations around the world. It is called <a href="http://www.wiserearth.org" rel="nofollow">"WiserEarth"</a>. The best part is all tools for connectivity haven't been thought of yet. That's why the site was designed to be community-owned and driven. While a lot of features are already in place to help people improve their organizing efforts, either in their town or around the world, the capability is there for the community to describe what they want to see.

At the very least, check it out and make sure your favorite organization is there and link it up to chapters, funders, resources, or events the organization is connect to. WiserEarth is about serving the community discussed in Blessed Unrest.

I have long been an admirer of Hawken and agree with his general analysis at least as I understand it. The concept of a leaderless revolution or movement is not brand new. It is only now emerging asa reality because of the internet and computers. People to tell us what to do in our lives are not needed. Yes to tell us where to put an electrical outlet or how to arrange the plumbing so that it will connect to the sewer system this is needed simply so that it will all work together.
However the idea that we need to be classified as black, white, hindu or what ever or that we should be hetro-sexual or homo-sexual is absurd. I correspond with people all over the world and I don't know what the heck they look like nor do I care. I don't know their sexual orientation nor do I care. I trust they feel the same way about me. What I want to know is how does this tie into that and what will be the effect of such a tie up be.
The same should apply to all our relationships your sexual orientation should be of no importance nor should the possesion or lack thereof of a penis have any damn thing to do with anything except your ability to perform sexually in a certain manner.
All we can do is to work to try and make sure we don't use any catch phrase to imclude or exclude some one. This is from someone who has been an anarchist for a long while. Yeah the Revolution Peaceful!
Love and peace

A. Pinko Marketing

Yeah...well, it still grows fast and furious, but not necessarily under the brand of 'Pinko' (although there are many who still use that term). I realized that branding it made it too divisive, actually. I see so many people doing the EXACT same thing...talking in the same language and moving towards the same goals, but under various names. I think it would be a mistake for me to try to tie it into Pinko. I had to let go of that.

B. American 2 party system

Man, that is a mess, eh? I don't understand why there has to be preliminaries, etc. Why not just everyone run? Sure, it would be harder to keep track of, but I wouldn't mind seeing a diversity of people in office from various backgrounds. I do believe, though, the US system is one of the furthest behind when it comes to 'Government 2.0'. :)

Thanks for the insight. I'm wondering about two things. First, what of keeping a movement (little m) going (i.e. leadership)? It seems like you need something out there to keep it going or it just peters out. Example your Pinko Marketing idea. When you were driving this and had the active Google group, I was participating to a degree. It went into Tangler and you lost me. I'm not sure if this is a tool thing (and Tangler baffles me--probably a commentary on me more than anything else) or leadership thing (or a me thing).

The other thing is this two party political system we have in the US. When does this archaic system break down? Nobody aligns into two camps very easily...
