I followed your link to Waring's book at Amazon.com and was surprised to see that no one has reviewed it there yet. Perhaps you should be the first. Just a thought.

Hey Tara,

Very nice post. I am sure Marilyn is thrilled to meet you and have you as a fan of her ideas. And you are spreading her ideas fast. (smile)

Interesting comment from Marilyn, "Trust is an externality". It may not be the traditional view, as trust is really neither "a cost or benefit from an economic transaction".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Externality
Trust is part of the implicit requirement for people to enter into a transaction. But it is interesting to look at trust in an out-of-the-box kinda way.

I love that "Burning Man" story. You asked "Could it work for more than a week?" My smart-ass comment is yes, it is call our "society". The evolution of our legal systems, property rights systems, electoral systems, etc. have all been evolved from literally the real Burning Men/Women living millions of years ago.

Are the above systems "perfect" (or "wonderful" or "good enough")? Hell, no! Which is why we all do what we do. Think, research, write, participate, vote, etc. and giving our limited influence/efforts to try to remodel and reshape our world into a better place. IMHO, it is our duty to give it a shot. And when time passes, it will be the future generations that will take up the baton and run with it.

Did I just write the above paragraphs? (smile) Oh well, I blame my fast-typing-hands.

Great looking set of slides! Even Nine Inch Nails gets a look in.

Bizzarely, I seem to have missed the fact that this conference was on. Given my range of interests, which are right across this stuff, and the fact that you were keynoting, I would have booked in ages ago and made the trip up from Christchurch. Of course that would have meant I'd had to launch Interclue a little earlier or later (ideally, it would have inspired me to get it launched earlier!)

I did know that Jon was coming but only from reading his blog, left a comment there and ending up meeting him for dinner! I hadn't actually had time to look and see what he was coming *for* until after we chatted. Today was pretty full on.

Did Kathy actually make it? I thought she'd canceled all her speaking appearances...

If you happen to still be in NZ and are coming to the South Island, drop me an email, it'd be great to meet you. I'd been thinking that it would be neat to get to a point where Interclue could engage the services of you and your PiC (who left a comment on my blog yesterday, oddly enough), but I expect you guys are pretty booked up given your high profile.
