Just reporting back to say I know have a copy and hope to make some headway in to it this weekend.

Slightly disturbed by the UK cover which features a pair of women's legs in lime green stilettos and akimbo. Makes it look like you are reading a trashy porn novel! :)

I love both the book (which I just finished a couple weeks ago) and this post.Bravo Tara!

Another thing Gilbert hits on is that people who are in your situation just a bit prior to you, are the best people to tell you whether you will be happy or not. You do better with reports from the field to understand whether its your field of dreams. That's rung true for me this year as I've benefited and tried to thank mentors and people who have inspired me; it's their insights that have allowed me better to predict what will make me happy on a number of fronts.

Cheers,
B

Tara,

Wonderful post. Most people don't understand happiness. I didn't until recently. This podcast by a highly regarded university professor helped. On an intellectual level, it was at first almost beyond my comprehension. I had to hear it several times -- as if in slow motion. But finally I "got it." Then it seemed so simple.

i love that in the picture, anxious is defined as both troubled and eager, especially since that is the state of mind i am in this week about my future.

the illusion of control can be a dangerous thing though. then when things don't happen the way you expect, you can get all upset. but there is a balance. knowing enough to admit your own ignorance and just keep learning from every experience is an amazing place to be. not an easy place to stay in, though. pride so often gets in the way...

Tara

Yet another fantastic post! As I'm just heading to bed, it has definitely given me something to "sleep on".

I for one will definitely be going book shopping in the morning.

Thanks for sharing.
