Some Green Stuff on Sunday

March 18, 2007 – 5:23 pm

In honour of St. Paddy’s Day that just passed (did you see the cute logo changes about town?) as well as the awesome amount of environmental projects that are taking flight online, here are a few of the way cool projects I’ve stumbled across over the past while that you should check out:
These Come From [...]

W stands for WTF?!

March 18, 2007 – 3:22 pm

I am a little more than disturbed that W Hotels, which are fewer stars than the Fairmonts and the classic luxury hotels of this world, have become more expensive…in some cases, 2x more expensive.
I have stayed at a W (years ago, when the price was lower…I think it was priced in between a ‘Travelodge’ and [...]

Twits Twittering for the sake of Tweets: or that’s not why I twitter

March 15, 2007 – 2:49 pm

Remember this? Probably many don’t, but I’ve been a member of Twitter, since last May or June. Previous to Jabber integration. Previous to the funky tricked out personal landing page. Previous to the vowels. (oh and that was the first recorded “twitterquake” btw)
I’m not trying to say that I’m uber cool ’cause I was part [...]

Barcamp Planners Summit

March 15, 2007 – 7:33 am

…is starting right now. We are at the Driskill Hotel in the back bar (perched on a piano, actually) in Austin, but also on Freenode.net at #barcamp.
The topics for today are:

Diversity
The tools we use (is a wiki still good for this?)

We are also video recording it. We’d love your involvement.

Coffee with John Coate

March 6, 2007 – 7:15 pm

I had the great fortune to have coffee with someone I really admire this morning: John Coate.
If you are into the ‘Community’ discussion at all and you haven’t heard his name, you are really missing out. I came across John’s canonical essay, Cyberspace Innkeeping: Building Online Community, originally written in 1992 and revised in 1998, [...]

Addendum: performing seals and work

March 5, 2007 – 10:21 pm

Question:
How do you guys get any work done with all of the things you are involved in?
Answer:
I wasn’t aware there was a difference between the two…I realized long ago that cutting back on the latter, rendered the former banal. The mojo comes from the being part of the community one serves. If a [...]

Performing seals and other such creative wonders of modern business

March 5, 2007 – 9:47 pm

I’ve talked about patience before, but I don’t think I put enough emphasis on it. Everywhere I turn, it seems that the landscape is filled with people, overeager to see instant results without any major effort or understanding of the situation.
I get emails like this all of the time:
Hi Tara,
I was wondering if I could [...]

Diversity and the Web2Open

March 5, 2007 – 6:24 pm

The Web2Open wiki is finally up…but is still a ‘work in progress’. We’ll be working on the design over the next few days (gotta put Chris on the CSS) and I’m hoping that this post will drive a few of you over there to fill in some blanks.
So, to recap, the Web 2.Open will consist [...]

Web2Expo…

March 1, 2007 – 12:38 pm

Quickie Post…
Chris, Ross Mayfield, Brady Forrest, Jen Pahlka and I are all on the team that is organizing the Web2Open at the upcoming big, fancy, schmancy Web2Expo.
I haven’t pointed to the Web2Open site, because, well, we haven’t put it together…but will be working on it over the next week or so.
What is the Web2Open?

A BarCamp-like [...]
