I had always fancied learning to play the cello, and figured I would do it one day when I retired. Then I went to see Yo-Yo Ma in concert and decided during intermission to just do it. So at the age of 37, I started learning to play, despite the facts that I had zero extra time and that it was incredibly difficult (I had grown up playing the piano, which helped only because I could at least read music). I'm still taking lessons, though not practicing often enough, and am glad that I took the plunge.
