Austin Hill’s Amazing Energy & Gifter.org

December 18, 2006 – 8:12 pm

So, there is this Canadian guy I didn’t know when I lived in Canada, but have since met and has become a real friend and mentor named Austin Hill. He is one of ‘those people’ who, by the age of 29 bought and sold multiple successful companies and appeared on covers of magazines. Crazy stuff and Austin has amazing energy.

So, when he called us to talk to us about the four non-profit “do-good-for-the-world” projects he was going to launch by the end of the year (he told us a couple of days ago), we weren’t surprised. The first of those, launched this morning, is the Million Dollar Blog Post. The other three will follow shortly and I will announce them here.

The idea is for companies and people to sponsor people’s wishes…which they are looking for 1 million of (it will be an interesting challenge to see if Wordpress scales to that number of comments on a single post). Citizen Agency is donating $100 of money to a charity of our choice (we have to come up with that one) for 100 of those comments, so please go make your wish...

Both comments and trackbacks are currently closed.

Thanks for the support Tara. The minute you guys have the copy of your donation receipt up on Flickr, let us know and we’ll get you listed as a sponsor.

(BTW - Do you find it funny how that I always walking away feeling like I’m the one getting mentored when I speak with you guys. - I’m learning more from our discussions then you are I think :)

I love the idea of the project. I wish you guys luck and we’ll be donating some money for sure.

One thing i’d like to mention. There are a tonnnnn of steps and copy to figure out how to donate to someone. Just a suggestion, but i’d condense it a little to make it easier to instantly pickup what’s going on. But good luck for your project Austin.

Thanks so much for the kind words of support and suggestion.

We got that feedback for a few things (too much text, not clear) and we are working to tweak and improve the clarity.

Over the next couple of days, we are going to start posting discussions with the RSS readers and on the blog to show how different people are getting involved.

One friend of the project has a network of preachers who are working it into a sermon :)

Another has been calling radio stations to suggest that they read wishes on the air during call in radio shows.

We want to show these ideas that come from the community to the other members of the project.

Any feedback or suggestions are really appreciated. (Either here or on the Gifter.org blog)
