Not attacking...just observing...
...and look what it accomplished. You'll notice a few new (female) faces on the list.
Ismael responded very positively to the criticism over the lack of women represented for Office 2.0 and actively sought-out more speakers to add to the conversation, some from the recommendations suggested in the blogged discussion and some from his own research into the matter.
Oh...and he asked me. My first reaction? "I simply couldn't" then I had to kick myself. Doh! I was doing the same thing I criticized myself and other women of doing. So, with thanks to Ismael, I accepted [although I already feel the nauseousness setting in].
So, even though it looks as though there are a bunch more conferences coming down the pipe with the same issue, Ismael has shown that the conversation can move progress along. He knew it wasn't personal...now if only a few of the angry 'anonymous' commenters could have listened objectively, we will eventually get somewhere.
Okay...now going back to day job...
