The War Tapes was an amazing, unbiased, eye-opening movie, filmed from the perspective of a group of National Guardsmen - all from various backgrounds and political viewpoints. It was absolutely real and I could even identify with Mike Moriarty, the soldier most different from my own philosophy. It put a truly human face on a really messy, stupid war - which ends up looking like a war that just needs to justify itself at this point (I imagined a tire fire that keeps perpetuating its own burning...).
No matter what your theory is on the war, you will identify with the raw humanity of this film. It will be playing in San Francisco at the Castro Theater from this Friday until mid-July, and various other places around the country as well.
If you sign up on their website, you will have loads of access to raw footage (they are sending out clips weekly to people who sign up for them).
Thanks Sean for letting us know about it!

i'm glad you and chris could make it on such short notice. it really is a great film and so very true to what we're doing in codeland; empowering people to tell their stories.
though telling my story from the end of an automatic weapon is a bit beyond my citizen media comfort zone, i must say ;)
Is the film likely to be available via other means?
I hope it comes to the UK, but I just can't see it at the moment - unless someone can tell me otherwise!
