Jeff Jarvis: There is no blogosphere

Quote:
We are not a mass, not a monolith, not even a medium. We’re just people talking. You’ll agree with some, disagree with some; like some, hate others. It’s just like life. It’s just people. The sooner you stop treating “the blogosphere” as a medium, the sooner you’ll understand how to interact with it. It’s made of people. Talk with them.
I abso-flippin-lutely agree.

Agreed... No blogosphere. But are there microspheres?

All this talk of "Web 2.0" and "users" and "medium" and "blogosphere" reminds me of a few years ago when online businesses used the "e" or "i" prefix all the time, or (worse!) "cyber." Some are still living and breathing: emarketer.com, cyberrentals.com.

Of course, that was before we all realized that online businesses were just....well, businesses.

Why the heck have they taken away chat with that idiot chatroom. Isn't just chatting over the garden fence what we are doing right now?
Or am I carzy? Probably the later.
