Riya goes Beta...

*sniff* Our little baby has grown up...all the way from alpha to beta!

At precisely 7:15 a.m. this morning, we sent an invitation out to 20,000 eager beta testers on our waiting list...if all goes well, the doors of the public beta will be thrown wide open in the next short while.

Thanks, everyone, for your patience and support. We totally look forward to your feedback! (Except for the stuff about Mac incompatibility - 'cause that sucks and we already know it...no, wait...blog that...tell the world how badly we suck because we don't have a Mac uploader yet. ;)).

I have to admit, I was a little dubious whether Riya could compete with the likes of Flickr, but needless to say, I'm impressed!
Didn't think it was possible, but I might be laying the groundwork for a Flickr to Riya migration soon...

I do hope that the Riya uploader can be sped up a little though....

Hi Tara, I have enjoyed playing with Riya over the last 24 hours. This might be a dumb comment, but a few people I have discussed this with have spoken about the "implications" of having identities tagged on the internet for public viewing. I am very interested in using something like Riya where I work as we are in the process of cataloging photos for education purposes. Can you point me in the direction of a site or something that addresses these concerns about private/public identity tagging? I'm sure that it has been discussed somewhere and I am not smart enough to figure it out on my own. It came up for me when I was identifying myself in my uploaded photos, but Ayse was at the table, as were a lot of other people. I was hesitant (and didn't) id anybody other than myself. If there is no easy answer to this, no problem. Just thought I would ask. I like Riya a lot. Hope all is well.

Tara - nothing, not a mention, not a blog post, zip.

You know, I just got tired of waiting for Riya to do the looooooong awaited (and long promised) Mac stuff.

If Riya ever does a Mac uploader, you know where to find me.
