Really big babies
"Why are you such a bunch of big girls?" asked Birch. "Why don't you tell the content owners to just get stuffed?" He continued unabated: "You're too seduced by the content industry, Hollywood is not even a $10 billion industry. Hollywood is small compared to the telecom industry. Why don't you take a stronger line? Consumers don't want DRM at all. You can't sell DRM."
Crazy flippin' amazing outburst. Damn, I wish I had said that. [kinda...check the addenda]
At the same time, though, I believe the telco companies might be the worse of two evils on this one. At least Hollywood is more easily brought to its knees. I can't imagine doing that to telcos.
Yikes. Let's make it a community-driven stuffing.

:: and, for the record, there is nothing ''passive' or 'rollingover' about being a girl or even a big bunch of girls...so...I would have rephrased that as, "Why are you such a big bunch of cowards?" Hey, I'm not a big politically correctness advocate, but girls rock and the telcos don't. ;)

Exactly my thoughts. I wondered since day one why Scoble invited you. Not that you say dumb things, but I certainly don't like this idea of "tell once, then let influential bloggers spread the words". Too many of them will simply Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V what is said because "they have the scoop".
Great post! I've been thinking about it over the past few days and wondering whether telcos could be disrupted in the way the content industry has. I think most people within telcos think not but the increasing number of Open Source telephony products makes me wonder. And then I saw Om Malik posted on this very topic! http://gigaom.com/2006/02/23/here-comes-open-source-telecom/
