My Heritage are spammers

They are the worst kind. Here is a little history:

  1. They emerged on the scene shortly after we did, but how? Well, instead of doing their own work, they stalked us by commenting on every blog that mentioned Riya by saying something like, "If you think Riya is good, MyHeritage is better." and even tried to personalize some of their spam comments. They appealed to one of my friends who happens to be from Isreal by highlighting that they are from 'the holy land'.

[this is comment spam...no less...it's mining data to insert unsolicited links and plugs while acting totally insincere]

  2. I blogged about it...tried to keep light hearted. A little snarky. I hinted lightly that we are not a heritage site, we are doing photosearch...however, they don't seem to 'get that'. Then they even spammed my comment section. I let it slide.

  3. They continued to shadow and piggyback on my marketing efforts, but were more like little gnats - irritating but barely noticeable.

  4. BUT NOW...these buggers...we paid good money to come to DEMO 2006. We worked our rsses off to get ready for it, write scripts, memorize presentations, fill in the zillion forms, spent many long hours sweating the upcoming pressure, faced the pressure, arranged childcare, sacrificed our nights and weekends, etc. etc. and what do we find out? The myheritage guys contacted a good number of the journalists and bloggers on the invite list to DEMO2006 to say, "If you are going to cover Riya, make certain you cover us, too." WTF!?
Screw off. Get your own damn marketing. Seriously. Your underhanded techniques are going to lead to seriously bad karma. The blogosphere can smell bullshit a million miles away. The only thing your company and ours has in common is that we use face recognition. If this is all we had to offer, we would be in trouble.

Oh wait...that's you. Now I understand why you have to be such ass clowns. You are spammers. Go away.
