Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind II
Okay...more clarity...what is the issue here? Why have I gone off on another rant that makes no sense? Shouldn't I just shuddup and eat a steak already?! Well...no...Thanks to the helpful outreach of friends and a discussion with my brilliant PiC, I worked through the temporary pain to see that there are blue skies on the other side.
And I discovered something else...something I was alluding to earlier:
A life in which everything is made simple isn't really an interesting life
It's an easy life. It's even an enjoyable life. But it certainly isn't as rewarding in the long run.
Think about it. Everything that is being designed today is being designed to make things more convenient for people. Sometimes ridiculously so. And sometimes at dire costs. We just get so used to the convenience that we shut off our brains and coast...into mindnumbing (but happy) oblivion.
Where is the challenge anymore?
I guess what we're working towards right now is to discover what happens when we go beyond...when we challenge ourselves...when we don't take the easy road. And even better, when we take the difficult path with a whole lot of faith that, no matter what the outcome, it will be at least an interesting adventure. We'll learn something about ourselves. We'll stop taking our conveniences and pleasures and easy lives for granted. We are entering a self-imposed semi-repression state. All of my life I have gotten what I want, when I want it. Now, I'll have to wait...just a little...seriously...baby steps....;)

The applications though that are being created are allowing us to focus more on those things that matter.
For instance, blog sites. Before, a person had to be an okay graphic designer and know some HTML, CSS maybe, a little graphics creation and how to store things on a web server. Now? Go to Blogger.com, sign up and write a post. No HTML or anything. So simple even my mom can do it. So fast that I can make a post in 10 minutes about an activity that took 2 hours instead of making the post in 2 hours because of all the coding about an event that was 2 hours long.
As far as running, I did cross country in HS. I graduated 3 years ago and I dont think I've run any further than a mile since then. :)
