Day 6...I'm craving a steak

;)

Two 'glitches' along the way for me:

1. 1/2 glass of wine at the Ferriere winery (considering we were in wine country, I thought I had to)

2. Unbaked crackers weren't 'live' (found out that means raw and vegan and they had cooked wheat or something) that we scooped up the live hummus with...had, like, a gazillion...oops

Other than salivating over the thought of a juicy burger or steak, I'm feeling better. Lighter. More focused. It helps to have a partner for this. We're going for the full 10 days...after that we agreed to do 50% raw/vegan, 35% vegetarian (tofu, an ocassional egg and smatterings of cheese) and 15% fish (we don't think we can live without sushi...and it's raw, so it can't be that bad.). No more coffee. Starting a 3-4 morning a week yoga/pilates routine with real true-to-life trips to the gym when I can squeeze it in my schedule.

Chris and I actually spent part of our weekend getting our lives in order on paper: work, health, side projects, et al. It's been apparent to both of us that we don't have enough time in the day to do everything we do. So, we started with what we want to accomplish, like success at work, taking care of our health, empowering the individual (open source living/liberation), spending time with Tad (getting him healthy, too), getting enough sleep, spending time with friends, connecting with more people across the world, etc. The list was far too long. I think we need to step back and prioritize things, spending time on the things that need attention now (like work, family, etc.) and planning for times when we can spend time on the 'big picture' (like changing the world, travel, etc.).

Anyway, life at a startup is hectic...it's amazing and exciting, but it is also very draining and there is no time for 'life'. Not that I'm complaining...I love the pace. I just feel like I've been a terribly absent mother and my home is in serious trouble. 10-12 hour minimum days at work. The hellish commute to and from the peninsula (another 3-4 hours per day). Work when I get home, usually well past 1 a.m. 1001 functions, meetings, meetups, geek dinners, conferences, unconferences, launch parties, etc. to attend. 300+ emails a day. 150+ blogs in my bloglines (that's after I cleaned it out). A new (and delightful) relationship that requires the ocassional 'date'. IM. Dodgeball. IRC. etc. etc. etc. I've talked about it before. It's not sustainable forever, but I have to keep going for a while longer. ;) In order for me to sustain it and get better at managing it, I have to take care of my health and mind. Eating better. Exercise. More sleep. Those will help a great deal.

And I bought some wheatgrass. That will help. I'm sure it will. ;)
