The Revolution will not be televised

[in tribute to MLK day...yesterday] [tshirt by the revolutionary factoryjoe here]

The revolution will not be 'delivered' by anyone

The revolution will not be fashionably irreverant

The revolution will not be buzzword compliant

The revolution will not have a hot, new reality show

The revolution will not star Paris Hilton, Jennifer Aniston or Angelina Jolie

The revolution will not have a red tag event

The revolution will not love the skin you're in, but it will weed out those that don't

The revolution will not require a credit check

The revolution will not allow you to chose the colour, model or package with a low monthly lease payment

The revolution will not be brought to you by Microsoft, Google or AOL

The revolution will not be an on again off again romance for the tabloids

The revolution will not promise better sex, bigger orgasms or harder erections

The revolution will not be accompanied by warnings, NDAs or End User Agreements

The revolution will not be limited to play on one, two, three or any number of machines

The revolution will not be owned by anyone

The revolution will not care if you are a size four or fourteen or twenty four

The revolution will not cost you more if you want broadband

The revolution will not call you a consumer, user or statistic

The revolution will not tolerate bad service, lies or false advertising

The revolution will take to the streets and be blogged, podcasted, vlogged, mashed up and hacked

The revolution will not be televised

The revolution will be live

Thanks to Joseph Jaffe for re-publishing Gil Scott-Heron's lyrics...;)

Yes. Yes. Live.

As Lee Felsenstein of the Homebrew Computer Club related from his conversations with Doug Engelbart last night, the problem with computer mediated collaboration is that the computer does not convey the "Prahna" - or rather the breath that is within each of us and makes us 'live'.

So in order for the computer to work towards collaboration for any cause, it must be used to extend and enhance the primary human connections we create when we are live, in the same space, face to face...
