Far away in a mythical place called Dallas

...is Barcamp Dallas...

I can't be there, but I'm hanging out in the IRC to get the 'scoop' on what's going down. Still, it's not the same, I don't have video and the energy center is a zillion miles away. There has to be something to be done about the real-time remote access for these events. [update: those Texans know how to document an event, check out their tag on Flickr]

Meanwhile, I can't imagine Chris' frustration, as he is stuck in Phoenix, sending smoke signals (geek-style) to tell us he can't get into the IRC because the Phoenix airport only allows access to port 80.

But what is interesting is that, from my home office, I can send his posted request to the techie types on IRC and get all sorts of help. Some of these techie types are in Dallas, some are sitting in their home offices, and some are in coffee shops. What a wonderful world we live in.

So, I take these threads and communicate back with Chris by leaving them in comments on his blog. And wait...if he shows up in the IRC, it's a good sign. ;)

:: now, what we have to do is publish how to hack these closed airport Wifi's somehow in a language regular people like me can understand. I'll be landing in Phoenix next Sunday, so I can plant the URL somewhere...hmmmm...
