Back and beat

I did alot of this when in Europe...

...and I had a fantastic time and met tonnes of interesting people. There are some things, however, I would do differently next time:

  1. Carry my 'documents' with me. Who knew that someone on a work Visa couldn't leave this hemisphere and return easily?!
  2. Pack lightly. Hell, I'm buying a backpack. Screw the whole wheeled suitcase thing. It doesn't travel well...and especially not in and out of metros. Oh...and one laptop is enough...[just my Mac, baby]
  3. Spend more time in Amsterdam. Darn those Dutch rock!
  4. NOT stay at the Regent Palace Hotel - sca-a-a-ary
  5. Budget better
  6. Spend less time looking for Wifi and more time exploring
  7. Get on a good sleeping schedule early on
But sleep deprivation and hellish travel aside, it was an amazing trip for myself AND Riya. I made contacts and friends that will last a lifetime, saw two beautiful cities I haven't been to before (and revisited one I have, but would go back to in a heartbeat), had some amazing geek meetups, ate some incredible food, took oodles of photos, gave out tonnes of alpha-invites and increased my blog stats three-fold. ;)

:: I did have a great time being a flaneur with my partner-in-crime for two fantastic days pre-Les Blogs in Paris, though...thanks...

Yeah, being a Canadian on an H-1B (TN, take your pick) trying to get back into the US is always a lot of fun...NOT!

I have taken to referring to myself as an "enemy alien", as that's how I'm treated. And I get the royal treatment compared to my wife and eldest son, who are effectively non-persons according to the US government.
