Me, interviewed on Gabbr.com

Gabbr.com, a Canadian community based social networking and news site, has posted the interview Dr.Del and I had via email over the weekend. It seems that the Bubble is most apparent to those beyond the soapy walls we live within.

Don't worry, though, I think I was convincing:
Let's not fall into the 'hype' hype. The real question here is whether Web 2.0, or whatever we are calling it, is about long-term profitability at all and whether or not that even matters.

...The tools that are refered to as the core Web 2.0 tools ... were built on labours of love. The authors may or may not have thought about how profitable their ventures were going to be. Some were designed in response to a growing public distrust of powerful monopolies. Some were designed to offer free alternatives to people. I don't think any of them really understood where this was going to go.

The term and the movement is about something altogether different than business models. I really do think that 'Web 2.0' is about disruption. Where that disruption leads may or may not be profitable.
See, I said disruption even before these guys pointed it out as a trend. So there. ;)
