Matt Marshall reports on Intelligrid, an amazing idea that would bring the power sources closer to individual's homes and eliminate our reliance on larger, antiquated power grids. The idea is that we put solar panels on the rooftops of our homes and businesses, etc. and gather and share power collectively.

Cool, open source energy.

But the coolest thing about it would be that in times of disaster, entire cities wouldn't be left sans power. As Matt points out, wifi Neighbornodes added to this would also keep communications open...

The world is shifting so quickly and radically...but then again, I'm here in the heart of it, so it looks even rosier.
