Everyone Loves TechCrunch
Michael is just such a good guy. I mean, who couldn't love that guy?
Just got in from an awesome party/mixer/networking thingy at Michael's fabulous Atherton abode. Saw some amazing demos. Met some amazing people. Danny and I did a wee 'demolette' ourselves. Not much, just a taste. There was interest, but nothing seems to phase these guys. Everyone thought the idea was cool, but had zillions of questions.
I made a comment at some point how fabulous it is to be able to go to parties and have these conversations and received some blank stares. I don't think anyone there understands what happens 'outside' of The Valley. (Back to that going from the "You just don't get it!" paradigm to the "You just don't get that there are people that don't get it!" thing) Everything is just so taken for granted here. I will get over it soon, I promise.
I was happy to see Kevin and Gabe again (funny story about my Memeorandum connection...I'll tell it in the next post). I also met these fabulous people:
I'll be posting photos tomorrow of the event under the tag: techcrunchbbq.

I was happy to see Kevin and Gabe again (funny story about my Memeorandum connection...I'll tell it in the next post). I also met these fabulous people:
- Jared Kopf, co-founder SLIDE (really cool photo aggregator, but Jared could sell anything. He's the kind of charming that makes a girl blush)
- Brian Goler, co-ceo, YorZ (great site for finding work down here...and, believe me, the industry is booming...the time is ripe)
- Chris Heuer, ceo, Conversal (I was immediately drawn to Chris because he was wearing a Bar Camp t-shirt, great guy)
- Paul Bragiel, ceo, Meetro (from Chicago, Paul is moving to the Bay area. He's so Chicago. Meetro is pretty cool and needs more people. I have very few friends here, so I need something like this, however, when I originally read up on him on the TC wiki, I downloaded Meetro and tried to say 'hi' to Paul. He totally ignored me. ;) Hi Paul! Love Parade this weekend, K?)
- Jonathan Moore, founder, Mosuki (Jonathan is that intense kind of smart that makes me bumbly. Mosuki is a very cool online calendar app that has oodles of great features and an amazingly smooth interface. He also lives just across the park from me, so I'll be seeing him again soon.)
- Andrew Mutz, managing director, Codesta (We didn't get to talk too thoroughly, but Andrew was very interested in Ojos, and he's a great guy)
- Leonard Speiser (We had a quick chat...Leonard used to work at eBay.)
- Sahadeva Hammari, internet technology, Blue Sky (I didn't get the name of his boss, but these guys are working on a site for their clients to help them find models for ads, etc. I see a good fit with our 'Find Similar' search)
- Jean Sini, cto, Stickis (didn't see a demo, but enjoyed meeting Jean and will definitely check out Stickis)
- Shawn O'Connor, partner, Pathbreaker (a very shrewd critic, he's exactly the kind of guy I want in my alpha test to quiz us)
- Nivi, entrepreneur, vc & charmer, Slawesome (send voice messages to your friends online. It's way cool. Tres sticky. Here is Nivi's blog as well.)
I'll be posting photos tomorrow of the event under the tag: techcrunchbbq.
