O&G and Conservatism
I emailed Steven Levitt & Stephen Dubner, authors of the fabulous book, Freakonomics, with a question last night...A friend of mine and I were talking about something the other day and Ithought you may have investigated or had thought about this:Neither of them had performed the study, and Levitt surmised that it may be a coincidence.... COINCIDENCE? I didn't think Steven Levitt believed in coincidences. Who is it that said, "There are no accidents..."?
Is there a Freakonomic correlation between O&G geographies and conservatism?
Both of us are from Alberta (O&G Province), which is, by far, the most conservative province in Canada. BC has also become more and more conservative (and especially inland) as their O&G reserves have grown. Then there is Texas. Not to mention the Middle East. And China & Russia.
Anyway, if anyone has any theories in this area, it would be an interesting conversation.
