Walking Outdoors

I find the current weather terribly cold and nippy, but I needed the fresh air, so I took the sidewalk route rather than the PATH this afternoon.

For those of you who don't know Toronto, many downtown buildings are connected by an underground tunnel called 'The PATH' - which sounds much more ominous than it really is. In Calgary, this phenomenon resides above ground and is called +15 - and there was an entire movie dedicated to these bizarre hovering walkways called 'Waydowntown'...you should see it).

En route, I encountered a particularly entertaining busker, re-purposing the songs blaring from a local, overpriced clothing store to sell his papers. Brilliant. I love buskers. They make the streets come alive. So do the panhandlers and the squeegee kids and the drunks. Wouldn't it be cool if the city paid them to be there, doing their thing? The idea is a bit utopic, but it makes sense.
